Belong logo

Experience days are our way of inviting you to use the facilities at your nearest Belong village.

This specialist day care service offers meaningful activities and the chance to get involved in our community. From classic film screenings to poetry reading, exercise sessions to local history and crafts to flower arranging, this is a refreshing and unique alternative to conventional day care.

Dementia expertise

People with dementia are especially welcome and all Experience Day customers are invited to make use of our exercise studio (facilitated by one of our expert fitness instructors) and enjoy lunch in the bistro.

Visit the village for one of our Experience days to enjoy the benefits of our community, with a dedicated member of our team on hand to help co-ordinate your day.

Enriching choices

Experience days offer so much more than conventional day care. We want to help you get the most out of your life. Sometimes that might mean enabling you to meet new people and take part in a range of social activities and sometimes that might mean promoting better relationships by offering respite to carers. Even if you just want a change of scenery and to take in the morning newspapers in a friendly environment, your needs will always be our top priority.

Why not treat yourself and experience life with Belong?

Notes

Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme provides 24-hour nursing and dementia care facilities for 72 residents in six households and 28 apartments for independent living, along with a range of community facilities.

Belong households represent a radically different alternative to conventional care homes.  With a maximum of 12 residents per household, these provide a family atmosphere where customers can build lasting relationships with staff and other residents. Our specially trained support and nursing staff are available around the clock to support individuals with dementia and those residents who require clinical care. Our village model is a stunning example of how advanced design and very high standards of care can provide a new quality of life for older people.

Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme's extensive village centre includes a bistro, exercise studio and therapy room and also a unique Belong Heritage Gallery housed in the historic Grade II listed building that has been distinguished throughout the years as Samuel Bell's Pottery, The Old Pomona Inn and most recently the iconic Maxims nightclub, which closed in 2006. Thanks to National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a £1.8 million grant to transform the once derelict building into the Belong Heritage Gallery. Its spaces include: Samuel Bell's tea room, a recreated Old Pomona Inn with licensed bar, a reminiscence room, craft and activities room and hair salon with nail bar, the gallery offers a range of activities and opportunities for people to engage with local heritage. The gallery is integrated within the village centre and aims to link the past and present through shared memories, experiences and reminiscence.

For people looking for support in their own homes, we offer an award-winning home care service, Belong at Home.

Additional Information

There's more to quality care than a properly thought our building, no matter how fabulous. Excellent management, carers and employees are an intrinsic part of the mix.

Belong operates with higher than average staffing ratios and employs people who genuinely care.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve service and satisfaction levels for customers and employees.

Belong actively encourages 'lifelong learning' for all employees so that they can constantly renew and extend their skills and knowledge in ways that help them to develop, progress and grow. Our aim is to ensure that people have a job that is satisfying and rewarding, which in turn gives customers an even better, more capable service, as well as total peace of mind.

This ethos permeates through everything Belong does: better buildings, better training, better people, better care.

A dedicated workforce

Belong is a values-driven organisation, and all our teams are trained in person-centred approaches to care and encouraged to become Belong 'champions', giving 110% to their work. In turn, employees are given extensive support and training, with on-site practice development facilitators providing regular observation and feedback to delivery and identify on-the-job and formal training opportunities.

A holistic approach

We don't forget the small things that mean a lot to a person. Favourite clothes, preferred foods, habits and rituals. Every aspect of support, care and village life is tailored for the individual, from determining wants and needs to ensuring the appropriate level of assistance is clearly defined.
