Top Tips

  • Try adding mash and vegetables to some of the lunch meals to make an evening meal.
  • Change the portion sizes to your child's age.
  • Swop around ingredients to meet your child's tastes and dietary requirements.
  • Pop the yogurts into the freezer to make a nice frozen treat.
  • Use the food to create funny faces on the plate.
  • Picky eater?  Involve your child in making the meals, they will then be more interested in eating them.
  • Struggling to get your child to eat vegetables?  Hide them in your meals, e.g. if you are making Spaghetti Bolognese use 50% mince meat and 50% finely grated carrot.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment, and remember you are your child's role model so lead by example.
  • Have a look at the recipes on the Family Hub Cooking - Cooking for a family on a budget page for more recipes.
